They pack into boxes and onto pallets and calculate the space required for transport.
When we started our own B2B platform, calculating shipping costs was a difficult task with every order. We couldn’t find a solution and were even thinking of creating their own algorithm when they came across 3DBP.
When the manager asks what will be the size of the packing of the pallet for this order, it turned out they were putting everything on the pallet, taking measures, and then giving them back.
Then the manager returns to the dealer, says it's going to cost, e.g. 500 euros. Then they start saying, okay, but what if I would order 30 boxes more of this panel, how much would it then cost? And so it's on and on, and every time they’re doing manual labor to determine the shipment size, it’ absurd.
AW Latvia utilize the Find a Missing Dimension tool to find how high each pallet will be for an order. We also use the Stack Pallets tool to optimize how the pallets are packed. And we use Try Out Box Sizes to maximize their pallet loads.

By using these tools, the accurate shipping price and the client can know the total price of the purchase. They also utilize the step-by-step instructions so their packers know exactly how to load the pallets.
Time saved processing the order and packing
The time saving is significant and this is the most important thing. We are able to cut our time of processing the order. With 3DBP, we shortened the time like I would say 10 to 1, like the amount of work we had to do.
There's a button within each order, when the workers press it, they get the instructions on how to actually meet the calculated dimensions of the pallet. They don't have to waste time trying and not able to figuring out how to actually put those boxes on the pallet in the way that the shipment dimension is met.
Optimization of space when packing pallets
For us, figuring out the maximum amount of boxes we can fit onto pallet means the order value increases because usually retailers like to order full pallets.
AW Latvia’s ordering and packing processes have been improved by 3DBP’s packing algorithm. Customer service has also improved with transparent options for a client to use their own transport.
The speed, accuracy and reliability of the system is incredible. All of these are significant. It's not really possible. I guess we can wait a bit for workers when they press the button to get their instructions. But at the same time we can't wait when the client is checking out, because the products need to be fast.
At the same time, the precision of calculations is obviously necessary, and also getting the same result every time. It has to work together. It's not really possible if any of those weren't met.
